She stretched her arms, smiled for a while and tried to get up slowly, her eyes still filling the sight of her room. She found her phone on the top of her drawer and checked for the time. There were messages stocked and unread. As she sees clearer, "What?!" She exclaimed when she saw that the time was already 7:45. Her eyeballs grew bigger as she scrolled down the messages asking the deadlines for their projects and another message saying that their deadline was for today. Papers were scattered on the floor as she was whaling. She thought she could have used more time last night if only she kept herself awake.
These
kind of situation may sound familiar to you. Yes, these mostly happens during
submissions of requirements on deadlines and worst during finals. It may be
painful and mind breaking but true. It is really very difficult to work on your
final requirements on the deadline. This puts a real high stress on you with
your eye brows meeting together. Deadlines are not really a bad thing to mind
in fact, they try to discipline and set your requirements an end so you
wouldn't need to mind them all the time which makes a heavy burden to you.
Deadlines
are manageable if only you do your part of it, which is to work on it. No
matter how difficult the requirement, it will be up to you how you'll work on
it. To buy you a help, here are five ways which I find very helpful to manage
my deadlines which you might find helpful to avoid cramming during finals.
1. Set your schedule and goals. This part means to plan out everything. We know that we still don’t know what will happen for the whole semester so best if you will estimate and expect for some requirements still unknown. To do this, you can try having an organizer of your own with a calendar type design, or a to do list which can be updated every week or month, and a board can be so much helpful especially if you are forgetful , you can just stick your activities and schedules on that board you may also use sticky notes. If you know the deadlines make sure to put it on the reminder.
2. Be the first one to lead yourself. Do not wait for your other classmates to work. The usual things that makes a requirement to take a lot of time is when everybody waits for somebody to start. This will also just create confusion with everybody's ideas. You must have your own idea and work on it all by yourself unless it’s a group project. Do not let somebody to motivate you to work. It will have to be always you.
3. Volunteer for early reports. This is a very advantageous technique because if you could have the first report, this will not play hard on you because usually, first reports are introductions which do not make trouble on analyzing instead just definitions and terms which will be used on your course. The best of this is, this will free you to work on your final requirements with more time and not minding it as another work to do.
4. Research and work immediately as soon as possible. Usually cramming is really an awful situation to look at with everything is disorganized, people working too fast, and worse is when the resources used are the same and you still need to wait for your turn. This takes too much time to render and a bad timing to wait but if you have researched already this would not become a headache. You should research earlier before others do and also after it was given. It will be better if you work on it already. This will satisfy you and would amaze your teacher, you might even be your teachers talk as a role model of your class.
5. Grant yourself a good reward. After working too easy or real difficult task, make sure you treat yourself good this maybe in a form of a good or favorite food, a good sleep, or anything that will satisfy your appetite. It’s the best motivation to avoid cramming and to work better.
