The divine infallibility. Man can have true
knowledge of God, and that is belief.
The God he believes can be seen and recognized
through his works of creation and the wonders he created to his creatures. And
so, the knowledge of God is just within the human existence genuine in its
character.
The comprehensibility of God because he is
infinitely intelligible is considered as a maximum act of the divine existence.
God as an infinite and incomprehensible being does not mean that he is unknown.
Human intelligence has the capacity to know the
existence of God as a cause on the part of the created creatures.
However, though he is unknown by man as cause
of all things God cannot be known by the aspect of His divine matter and form.
The knowledge that man has regarding God is through observable matters in
analogical sense of the form found in creatures.
God is the primary cause of creatures and
creatures are just effects of such cause. The effects of such perfection, in
absolute sense, manifest the perfection of the attributed cause. The knowledge
of God in the human experience is a positive experience.
God gave being and existence to creatures and
when he gave that existence he gave some of his similarities and dissimilarities
with infinite metaphysical differences.
What man has believed in God, there is always a
kind of affirmation. A kind of eminence and a kind of negation, when God is
applied and understood as part of the perfection that man has observed in
things, it is kind of affirmation. When God is negated with significant
limitation in his perfection in an affirmative way, it is a kind of negation.
There is such a thing as divine infallibility.
Man’s knowledge in God is limited and imperfect. God being by nature is transcendent
and incomprehensible, he cannot be described totally in words. All the
descriptions that man utters regarding God cannot completely describe the real
being and existence of God. The descriptions is just the product of man’s
experience, but God is far beyond human experiences. He cannot be explained in
words is absolute in nature. He is God, though transcendent and
incomprehensible can still be known and described but in a manner that is
something him according to his perfection. When it says, “modes of God’s
significance” it refers to the important and significant transcendence of God
which for man to affirm, to negate and to acknowledge His eminence.
Here are the formal composition of God in His
being and existence.
He is simple and only. He is not composed, not
doubled, not duplicated, he is not complicated, and he absolutely has no
conditions.
He is perfect and full of goodness. He has the
quality of being perfect in all and of all possible goodness and excellence. He
does things better and create it perfectly.
He is infinite, omnipotent and full of
immensity. He can never have an end and termination. He is great and enormous
in whatever matter. He has the greater value of all. He is immeasurable, his
extension is infinite. He is powerful. He can be in all possible or in all
possibilities.
He does not change, he can never change. He is
not mutable. He has no alteration in His being and existence.
He has unity. He has the quality of being
unique. He is the only no other else. He
is extraordinary and excellent.
